Advent of the Son was set for a certain day. Clearly, the disciples could not have received before that set day. Before the Day of Pentecost, it was necessary to wait for the promised Comforter; since the Day of Pentecost, the abiding Comforter waits for the believer. We conclude, therefore, that it is not now necessary to wait for the Spirit.
